This meeting covers most of the OECD countries and developing countries that make up the bulk of global added value. These 50 countries differ from each other in terms of the importance of agriculture in their economies, the structure and harmony of the sector, and the generation of income from natural resources based on agricultural production. To varying degrees, these countries face the same challenges and opportunities: responding to growing demand for food and non-food uses of agricultural commodities; more sustainable use of available land, water and biodiversity resources; adapting to and combating the effects of climate change and dealing with the unpredictable supply, demand and policy shocks that often occur.
